Revelations from Business Women of 2020

Hello Lovely,

I experienced huge revelations this week from women who have their own business.

This week I had the privilege of speaking with dozens of entrepreneurial women from around the world who generously offered their time to speak with me about their experiences as an entrepreneur as I dive into doing research for my biggest business and mindset programme yet.

No matter her age, marital status, geographical location, the age of business or the type of business, what I found this week, (and from the 15 years since I first began working with women and business), is that there are always been several common factors among entrepreneurial women.

Entrepreneurial women dream big and want to success.
Success and big dreams looks different for all of us. For some it's making six figures (plus), for others it's having time to work around family, have a thriving practice or client base filled with clients we love or perhaps it working only 3 days a week. (Shhh, here's a secret. You can have all of these at the same time when you structure your business in the right way, you don't need to choose just one.)
Your Mantra: I can dream even bigger and have the success at any level with the right support, structure, strategy, mindset skills - nothing can stop me.

Entrepreneurial women are often educated to a very high level.
I adore the women I work with because they are specialists in what they do, (even if they don't initially recognise this achievement in themselves.) They are doctors, marketers, naturopaths, behaviourists, translators etc and many of my ladies have become 'unemployable' due to their level of education and specialism, so they use their knowledge to set up their own business.
However, when our knowledge isn't recognised or acknowledged by others then we have a difficult time believing in ourselves and in our worth and this directly effects our levels of abundance and income in our businesses.
Your Mantra: I can use my knowledge and zone of genius to be an amazing entrepreneur serving a community of ideal clients who are actively looking for me to help them.

Entrepreneurial women want to live their life and do business on their terms.
Oh, my goodness, yes we do. I have found that entrepreneurial women are trailblazers, they have such a (often hidden) rebellious streak and a powerful message they want to get out into the world. We know what we want and how we want to work and to take charge of our own lives. having a successful business is a massive achievement whatever income level you are currently at.
As women we are so intuitive, and we know instinctually when something can be done better. Working for someone else feels restrictive and uncreative and always there was a ceiling on how much money we can make. We desire the freedom to work around family and enjoying our free time.
Your Mantra: I can live your life on my terms by rewriting the rules and stepping into who I really am.

Entrepreneurial women want to start, run and grow their business filled passion with ease and flow.
So many women said that they started their business after they retrained in a new industry or their life or career circumstances had changed, and this was the same for me.
We wanted to enjoy our work, for us it's not just a job, we need to feel fulfilled, to be of service and not to feel we have to struggle.
You can achieve this by having a solid plan and structure in place. It may not sound exciting but once this is in place then the ease and flow will be part of your daily life.
Your Mantra: I can have a business filled with ease and flow that is authentically me and encompasses my passions, skills and zones of genius.

Entrepreneurial women work better when they are part of a community.
Entrepreneurial women are a super special group of people, but often there is a level of loneliness.
We think differently to very other person on this planet. We find it difficult to talk to others who just don't get us. We feel we can't celebrate our wins because we will be seen to look like as if are bragging and we can't ask for help when times are tough as the usual answer will be "well go and get a real job."
Your Mantra: I can achieve more when i'm surrounded by like-minded women. When we support, love and raise each other up that is when true transformation and growth occurs.

Entrepreneurial women want to make their own money.
This is my personal favourite topic. I'm a passionate campaigner for gender equality through female entrepreneurship and I have found that making our own money and they ability to make any amount of money is often a common factor among female business owners.
As women the work we do and the amount of money we make (or don't make), is directly linked to our self-worth. I have often heard women say that when they are not financially contributing to the household income then often they "feel worthless." This is heartbreaking for them and they question every life decision up to that point.
Some of us have no choice but to make their own money due to family circumstances and this is to be truly applauded.
The comments I do love to hear are "I want to make more money than my partner" or "my goal is to retire my husband." These women are really owning their worth and stepping into who they truly are and going out into the world in a big way.
However, so often I hear that the money just isn't coming in at the frequency or consistency they thought and so often women will then take knee jerk reactions and do things like change their offers, change who they work with, blame external circumstances and even close their business, when really the problem is one of mindset and and the stories we tell themselves.
Your Mantra: I can make as much money as I desire with my own business, become empowered, bridge the equality gap and be an inspiration to the next generation of women.

This week I realised that THIS is what I stand for:
A new paradigm for massive growth, where we grow our businesses, our way.
Where we live a life we love, unapologetically. Where we have a safe place to come and share our big ideas and never feel wrong for sharing our emotions or acting on our intuition. A community without people telling us our ideas are too big or that we can’t have a family, free time AND a very successful business.

A place where we get to bond with other powerful, successful women who don’t want to act like men, where hugs and love rule, while they bathe in content that multiplies their business, while being the fullest expression of womanhood we can be, feeling worthy of all of the abundance that the world has to offer, without needing permission or having to apologise.

This is my passion.
And (wo)man, it feels good.
Love Sarah x

P.S. I take the very same approach to business within all my programmes, support, community, mindset and strategy are so so important.

Going alone can be seen as self-sabotage. Meaning, we would get ahead soooo much faster with a mentor, and yet, we try to hold up a facade (“I don’t need help” or “I will try to figure it out on my own”) or even wait for the right time to afford the help we really need, whether it’s admin help or the right guidance and coaching. Listen, here’s what I know for sure: It will never be the right time and it will always feel like a bit of a financial stretch, no matter how well you’re doing.

I always say to people (and I tell myself this):
“Why are you unnecessarily delaying the results you want NOW, especially when there’s always a way to make it happen?”

If it’s not working on your own, and you desperately seek a new way of getting results in your business, let's chat (for free) about what it would look like for you and I to work together.

The call is free. There is no catch. I would just want to hear about your situation and explore some options for you to get help and finally break through any block.
Let’s talk
You don't need to do this alone.
